Associated Press of Pakistan

KARACHI: An Australian firm has shown interest for the setting up of a coal-based power project at Thar.

This was stated by the Director General of the Sindh Board of Investment (SBOI) Arif Illahi, here on Saturday. He said that Colin Roberts, Director Geostrategy International from Australia, recently visited the SBOI and met with the Adviser to the Sindh Chief Minister, Zubair Motiwala as well as the Director General SBOI.

Colin Roberts was given a briefing on the occasion by Mr. Motiwala about the potential of investment in Sindh and particularly of the volume and return of investments in Thar Coal.

It was informed that the SBOI would act as the facilitator and help remove any impediments faced by the investors. Colin Roberts, it was pointed out, showed interest in investing in a coal based power plant.
