When I was a student I never had any fear of exams; the thing I feared was the results and I had to wait for them for three solid months. Such is the case with many of us. People like me spend their summer vacation in fear of the results, thus they can't enjoy their holidays. Then there is the more organised kind of people who plan everything and pass their days according to a timetable, following a well laid out regimen. They always seem to do well in exams because studying regularly is part of their programme. Thus, they utilize their summer holidays in a better way having no fear of the results.

So most of the time, people like me spend their holidays in preparing those subjects in which they doubt that they are going to pass. Therefore, they don't learn anything new nor do they spend their time in a nice way.

We think that summer vacations are meant to relax and we take them as a pause in our studies. Many of us spend our summer vacations catching up on our sleep which we couldn't do properly during our exams. Usually, we pass holidays watching our favorite movies; reading novels we like, which of course are not in the course; playing online games and cricket or football; visiting relatives and do all those things which we couldn't do because of academic life. These funs filled occupations are good and obviously they should not be condemned, but there should be limits for such activities.

Get a job

The best and trendy way to spend your summer holidays is get a job or at least internship in some organization, because during this time many companies require and hire teenagers and new talent for the reason they face a crunch during the holiday season as a number of their existing staff are vacationing with their families. This internship will help you in several ways. A person who opts for internship in his or her field of choice will learn a lot about a professional attitude and professional know-how. Thus it will groom their personality. This activity will provide him or her many favorable contacts which may prove a big asset in life. An internship or a job also enables a student to develop confidence and polishing his or her skills. The tenure of three months of an internship or a job also develops the worth of the resume, besides earning some pocket money. For students who want to earn a reasonable salary there are opportunities to take a job in a call centre, whereas those who are inclined towards some social services can try to join some NGO. Modeling is another option for those who have passion and flair for it, besides trying to get modeling opportunities during the vacations will help you develop the skills needed for this field and may help you in establishing your credentials for a future in this career. So if you have any skill, use it and it up to you whether you join advertising agencies, newspapers, software firms, hospitals or hotels. Chose the field of your own interest for there is a diversity of them.

Learn short courses

Seeking diploma's and short courses in another beneficial option. Almost all institutions offer linguistic and technical certificates during summer vacations. So doing some short courses helps in finding a job after the completion of your studies and enhances your worth in the market. Nowadays computer technology has made it easier to find out which institution offers what sort of courses along with all the required information. Thus you can learn a new skill or enhance their communications skill, because in this age it has become essential to be computer literate.

Render your services

Volunteering with some local social agency is another good idea. There are many voluntary groups that regularly require youngsters to contribute their effort, especially NGOs that help orphans and homeless children. These are worthwhile causes and we should respect people volunteering for such services.

Have some adventure

Some of the youngsters have passion for making their holidays adventurous. They can visit the hill stations and northern areas. There they can find adventurous activities like hiking in the mountains, photographic expeditions, camping and even mountain climbing. They can also play adventurous sports and get an opportunity to enjoy nature and escape from mundane urban life.

Create a study group

Those who have a thirst for knowledge and like to read books in order to enhance their knowledge can create a study group. These are groups of like-minded people, who come together to share thoughts and ideas. Besides we gain a lot when we sit in the company of knowledgeable and learned people. So decide on a place and a time. Choose a topic to discuss in this study group and cover it comprehensively in your session. Many who are petrified of group discussions can find this activity beneficial.

Take up a hobby

Last but not the least there is the option to utilize from your summer vacation to indulge your favorite hobby. It can be anything of your interest: joining a fitness club, gymnastic, yoga, learning cooking, gardening, having a pet, painting, etc., etc. First of all, remember to list all the things you've wanted to do. Then identify the hobby that best fits your likes, budget and situation.
